Late Alhaj Danesh Ahmed Chowdhury (1956 - 2008).
Alhaj Danesh Ahmed Chowdhury, also known as Danesh Mia born in 10 January 1942 in a respected Muslim family in Chechuria Village Banshkhali,Chittagong district His father’s name Late Ekram Ali Chowdhury and Mother’s name Sofura Khatun.He completed high school from the Boilchori Nozmunnessa High School.He graduated from the Chittagong College and started his political career along with influence from Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Student Life
While studying in Chittagong College,he achieved the position of the leader of the student union.He proved to be a worthy leader of the student community of Chittagong College.Beside he also maintained the post of the President of another student community named ‘’Jatrik’’ in the same college.In 1966 during the Sheikh Mujib’s ‘’Six Point demands’’,he played a vital role in delivering the message to the people of the East Pakistan.His contribution was numerous during the election of 1970 and it was only him and his team, who helped in winning Awami League the election.
Fight for Independence
In 1970 after election Ayub Khan rejected to put Awami League on to power,this led to the liberation war and there Danesh Ahmed joind as a leader of Mukti Bahini and gave his best to fight for independence and proved himself as a worthy freedom fighter.He along with some other team members including Abu Sayed,Abu Hossain,Nurul Islam Bhedu,Shamsul Alama,Mohammad Zakaria as a great Freedom Fighter refused to accept the reward as well as the title of the ‘’Freedom Fighter’’ after the liberation war saying that ‘’We fought for saving our mother not for receiving reward’’.
Contributions
He never tolerated wrongs in the society and critised those who did.He worked for serving the country as well as made sure that each people received their right through his entire life.Following this,he was forced to become the leader of the Worker’s Party.During playing his role as the President he made sure that every worker of the mills and the farmers received their salary and other rights properly.This gained him a stout fame.He as a man of religious tempermant worked for serving providing people their major rights and flourished his political career in helping the nation in developing till it’s peak.His works and deeds as well as the style of clothing reflected the life of ordinary man who never felt proud of himself.On the other hand he was the apple of the eyes of Mr.Ma.Hannnan the well know politician of the Awami League who trusted him more than himself.Danesh Ahmed was also a great follower of Sheikh Fazlul Huq Monir who appointed him to handle over the post of the vice president of Regional Workers League which achieved him the opportunity of going on a tour to Belgium,Bulgaria and Berlin with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the President of Bnagladesh.

Sheikh Mujib impressed with the quality and the deeds of Danesh Ahmed appointed him as the new Chief Commander of Lal Bahini which was formed in order to defend the nation from West Pakistan and its other enemies in 1973. Danesh fought against West Pakistan for the right which the East Pakistani’s deserved. He influenced people for the ‘’GHERAO’’ movement along with Maulana Bhashani and also himself lead a huge rally for the language movement. Seeing the respect for justice
Popularity among People
His legacy prompted and influenced youth in Bangladesh to begin fighting for Bengalis independence and he continued to be a youth idol in modern Bangladesh, as well as the inspiration for several youngsters. He is still in the memory of the people of his beloved country as well as his village.
Marriage
In 26 May 1973 Danesh Ahmed Chowdhury married Ummul Khair Begum the daughter of the renowed Member of the Indian Assembely.All of the well known politicians and the ministers were present in his marriage ceremony.He died of Cancer and took his last breath in Metropoliton Hospital in 2008 in Chittagong.
